Driver killed in crash
Passenger airlifted from rural Weyauwega
One person died and another suffered severe injuries in a crash at 2:34 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the town of Weyauwega.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office reported that a vehicle was traveling northbound on County Trunk U at Railroad Grade Road when it entered the west ditch, re-entered the roadway and rolled several times.
The driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Waupaca County medical examiner.
Weyauwega firefighters extricated a passenger from the vehicle, who was taken to ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca, then transferred to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. Names are being withheld pending family notification.
