Waupaca police make drug bust

Meth found during traffic stop

Ezekiel B. Shurts, 31, Iola, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of an illegally obtained prescription drug.

On April 11, Waupaca police questioned a person coming out of a residence they had under surveillance.

The officers subsequently searched the residence, where they observed and inspected a cellphone.

Messages on the phone that were apparently from Shurts indicated he was in possession of a controlled substance and possibly a handgun.

Officers made a high-risk traffic stop of Shurts’ vehicle.

They reported finding amphetamine pills, just under 1 ounce of marijuana and small amounts of white powder and a crystalline substance in the vehicle.

The officers also reported Shurts had $900 in cash.

According to the criminal complaint, officers found small two plastic bags with meth and one small plastic bag with cocaine in the back of the squad car after transporting Shurts to jail.

Shurts faces another felony drug charge for allegedly selling 0.64 grams of meth for $45 to a confidential informant in Iola.
