Peterson, Alvera A.

Alvera A. Peterson, age 92, Waupaca, was chosen by the Lord to join Him in His Heavenly Home on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020.

She was born on Oct. 2, 1928 in the village of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., a daughter of the late Robert and Wilma Missling. She married Kenneth Peterson on Aug. 26, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1958. Alvera attended Loyal Public Schools and graduated from Loyal High School. She attended Stout for two years. She was a member of the Women Students’ Hyperian Society. She continued her education throughout her career by enrolling in legal seminars and tax accounting courses. She received the Certified Professional Legal Assistant Award while active in the legal profession. Alvera was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. She served on Altar Guild, Church Council, Evangelism Committee, and many other volunteer projects. She was very active in Trinity’s Chapel on the Lakes summer outreach program. She had been employed by the Waupaca County Highway Department, Whale Safety Paper Company (later Bergstrom Paper), and Judge A.M. Schuller. From 1958 through 1972, she was employed in the office of Attorney Richard E. Johnson. When she retired, she continued to assist Attorney Johnson and his son, Attorney Richard G. Johnson, at the First National Bank of Waupaca. Alvera was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Waupaca, serving two terms as President along with other club offices. She enjoyed bowling for many years, and traveled extensively. She loved participating in family activities, tending her house and garden, and taking her daily walks. Those who knew Alvera will remember how she always found four-leaf clovers on her walks and gave them to others to see their smiles of surprise! She was an avid reader, writer (“you’ll have to read about it in my book,” she’d say), and decorator–and a devoted fan of the Badgers, Brewers and Packers, with her own fan brick at Lambeau Field.

Survivors include her son Perry (Ann), Middleton, Wis.; a sister, Lorretta Brown of Thorp, Wis.; and a great-nephew, Richard Draves, Minnesota. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a daughter, Pamela Jean; her father and mother, Robert and Wilma Missling; her sister, Dr. Lorraine Missling; and a niece, Brenda St. Germaine.
