In Loving Memory of Eric Thomas Burns
On Saturday, May 1, 2021, Eric Thomas Burns suddenly passed away at the age of 43.
Eric was born March 5, 1978 in Waupaca to Margaret Burns (nee Raymond) and Roland Burns. After graduation, Eric worked in several trades, including as a painter and contractor with Burns and Sons Painting, but found his niche and mastered his craft as a welder. Eric and his true love, Carrie Jane Burns (nee Van Zummeren) of Waupaca, were reunited in marriage on July 27th 2019. Together they raised six unique and beautiful children: Adam Nickel, Bryce Burns, Maria Burns, Owen Hansen, Savana Hansen, and Wyatt Hansen. Eric’s unique soul combined a reciprocated love for animals and nature and his passion, talent, and pride in his work and hobbies, inherited from his mother and father. Although Eric was often a man of few words, those close to him knew him as a sensitive person and a loving father. Eric’s presence in his community was deeply felt through his selfless giving and unwavering kindness to friends, family, and strangers alike. Eric devoted himself entirely and mastered whatever endeavors he set his mind to. He found his true passion as an ambassador and competitor on the disc golf course. Eric dedicated his time and energy to improving his own skills, as well as spreading a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. His influence and memory will be carried on through every ace thrown, every laugh shared, and every heart touched.
Eric is survived by his wife Carrie Burns and their children, parents Roland and Margaret Burns (Waupaca), older brother Joshua Burns (Stevens Point) and younger sister Amber Burns, as well as other close relatives and many friends.
A celebration of life is planned for the near future. His family urges all motorcyclists to always wear a helmet and exercise extreme caution while riding. We love you, Eric. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
