New London driver airlifted to hospital
A 41-year-old New London man was severely injured in a crash shortly before 5:15 p.m. Monday, May 24.
According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck with a utility trailer was southbound on U.S. Highway 45, one-half mile south of State Highway 76/22 in the town of Bear Creek.
The truck crossed the center line, entered the east ditch and struck a tree.
Bear Creek firefighters freed the driver from the truck and the Eagle III helicopter airlifted him to Theda Care Regional Medical Center-Neenah.
The driver was the vehicle’s sole occupant.
Deputies closed U.S. 45 in both directions for about two hours.
The crash remains under investigation. No names have been released.
