Fitzgerald, Fay Ann

Fay Ann Fitzgerald, age 80 of New London, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 in Madison due to several weeks of complications from two back surgeries.

Fay was born on September 12, 1940 in New London to the late Elmer and Meta (Vollmer) Ritchie. Fay was united in marriage to John Fitzgerald on April 15, 1961. Fay and John owned and operated Fitzgerald’s Tap in Readfield for many years. Following that, she was a printing manager at Tee-Off Enterprises. She was a faithful member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, where she was a member of the PCCW, volunteered at the Resale Shop and she also distributed Holy Communion to residents at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. She was always on the go and loved to travel, watch her grandchildren’s sporting events, attend Red Hat Ladies’ events, go to Curves, and have lunch with her many friends. Fay adored being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was very proud of all her children and grandchildren.

Fay is survived by her daughters, Lori (Tom Vaughan) Fitzgerald, Colleen (Craig) Cloutier, Christine (Dave) Bugaj and her son, Walter (Polly) Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Forrest, Brock (fiancée Brittany Cordero), Dalton and Avery Bugaj, Brooke (Tyler) Sprangers, Cambria (Mitchell Roberts) Fitzgerald, Chad (Kelly Handy) Cloutier, Brent (Beth) Cloutier and Hailey (Al) Northouse and great-grandchildren: Noelle, Julius, Gavin, Layla, Jack and Millie Faye and her siblings, Rollie (MaryJane) Ritchie, Susan (Raul) Rivera and Marianne (Mike) Melnyk. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Fay was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents and sister, LaVonne Schulke.

The Memorial Mass for Fay will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Most Precious Catholic Church with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
