Frazier takes the helm

Manawa’s new mayor eyes new subdivision

By Holly Neumann

Although Mike Frazier has only held the office of mayor of the City of Manawa for a short time, he and the city council have already met to discuss goal-setting and planning for the community.

Discussions took place on street repairs, with Walnut, Factory and Wells high on the list.

“The biggest challenge is finding the funding for street repairs,” Frazier said. “State and federal funds would help us complete our projects.”

Replacing sewer and water lines, replacing lead water lines to homes that have them, adding a fourth police officer and developing nine acres of land on the north side of the city have also been discussed, he said.

Frazier said his long-term goals include working with a developer to create a subdivision on the north end of town.

“I will do my best to serve the City of Manawa,” he said. “I encourage the community to contact me when they have a question or concern.”

Frazier’s office hours at Manawa City Hall are flexible. He can be reached at [email protected].
