Manawa boys win CWC-Large track meet

Prahl, Bartel win three events in Rosholt

Eight points.

That’s what separated the Manawa boys’ track team from Iola-Scandinavia June 5 at the Central Wisconsin Conference-Large meet.

Although Parker Prahl won three events for Iola-Scandinavia, the Wolves outscored the Thunderbirds to win the boys’ championship at Rosholt High School.

Manawa finished with 128 points, followed by Iola-Scandinavia (120), Pacelli (85), Weyauwega-Fremont (61), Rosholt (60.5), Bonduel (58.5), Amherst (57), Shiocton (51), Wittenberg-Birnamwood (50) and Menominee Indian (2).

Wittenberg-Birnamwood won the girls’ championship with 135 points, followed by Weyauwega-Fremont (101), Shiocton (98), Manawa and Bonduel (88), Amherst (60), Rosholt (47), Pacelli (46) and Menominee Indian (22).

Prahl won the boys’ 100-meter dash (11.44), long jump (20 feet, 4 1/2 inches) and triple jump (42 feet), while teammate Brye Hardel won the boys’ shot put event with a throw of 44 feet, 9 1/2 inches.

Abby Bartel won three events for the Weyauwega-Fremont girls, as she placed first in the 800-, 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs with times of 2:27.32, 5:28.97 an 11:58.37.

Manawa returned home with a pair of championships, as Grant Bristol won the boys’ high jump event with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches, and the girls’ 400-meter relay team of Daisy Krueger, Alivia Trinrud, Lexi Hedtke and Aspen Linjer turned din a time of 53.91.

Weyauwega-Fremont’s boys’ 800-meter relay team of Muluken Rucks, Hayden Orr, Max Meyerhofer and Sam Mason also had a winning time of 1:37.5.

• Wild Rose and Pittsville won boys’ and girls’ championships, respectively, June 5 at the CWC-Small meet in Plainfield.

Team scores the boys were Wild Rose (216), Pittsville (79), Tri-County (67), Gresham/Bowler (48), Port Edwards (39), Almond-Bancroft (34), Northland Lutheran (22), Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (3).

Team scores for the girls were Pittsville (123), Wild Rose (118), Tri-County (115), Gresham/Bowler (84), Northland Lutheran (62), Almond-Bancroft (40), Wisconsin Valley Lutheran and Port Edwards (26), Tigerton (25), Marion (5).
