New logo for Weyauwega-Fremont

UW-Madison designer creates Warbirds’ logo

The Weyauwega-Fremont School District has a new logo.

The school board approved the image when it met on May 24.

“We’re looking to finally put this to rest,” District Administrator Phillip Tubbs said.

The next piece is for the students to create a mascot, he said.

The new Warhawks logo replaces the the motion W-F the district has used for a number of years.

Tubbs told the board the amount of time the district has to phase out usage of the old logo has been extended.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison contacted the school district last fall and flagged the trademark the district was seeking for the motion W-F.

The school district had started the process of branding and trademarking that W-F for marketing and financial reasons.

The university agreed to create a new logo for the district’s mascot name and to do so free of charge.

The school board voted unanimously earlier this year to choose “Warhawks” for the district’s new mascot name.

That was after board voted unanimously last fall to retire “Indians” as the high school’s mascot name.

That action officially retired a name that had not been used for years.

A designer from UW-Madison’s Grahpic Design Department created mock logs for the school district this spring, with the board then choosing the image.
