Questions to the speaker may be submitted via Facebook or phoned in to 715-942-9917 during the program.

Self is an Appleton-based registered investment adviser and serves on the board of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.

Using the most accurate and updated information available, Self will present the history and current state of the racial wealth gap.

He will discuss various methods of gathering wealth, including the relationships between where one lives, family wealth, family income, family savings and home ownership versus renting.

Many people have assumptions about race that may not be true, and Self’s program reviews possible causes and some myths surrounding the equity gap.

He will explain historic discrimination that trickles down through generations.

His presentation will add urgency to wealth equity issues and will end with suggestions for positive actions that the audience, as well as elected officials, can take to address this national problem.

Ruby and Barry Shaw are the sponsors of this program.
