App, Thomas J.

Thomas J. App, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2021, following a 12-year battle with Parkinson Disease.

Thomas was born on April 18, 1942, to the late Frank and Rosalia (Rinzel) App in Milwaukee. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served two terms during the Vietnam War. After returning, he attended UW-Madison where he received his BA and MA Degrees. Thomas married Marie (Omernik) App whom he met in Madison and they raised one son, Mark Thomas, who is currently a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force. He married Elizabeth (Brown) and they raised a son, Eli. Thomas was a high school counselor and served his longest terms of eight years in Alaska and eleven years at Little Wolf High School in Manawa. Thomas enjoyed physical adventures that challenged him, including climbing a total of ten 14,000 foot mountains with his son in Colorado, traveling by bicycle across the United States, building a power glider and a powered ultralight, planting thousands of pine trees in Ogdensburg, his home in recent years.

Burial will take place with honors at the Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in King.
