Thompson, Marcella “Cella”

Marcella “Cella” Thompson, age 63, of Bear Creek passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton.

The former Marcella Marie Beaber was born on March 22, 1958 in Castro Valley, California to Harold and Barbara (Bennett) Beaber. As a young child, Cella’s family moved to Tacoma, Washington, and that is where she graduated from Foss High School in 1976. She moved to Wisconsin and settled in the Bear Creek area in 1980. Cella was united in marriage on August 2, 1991, to Curtis W. Thompson in Clintonville. For many years she delivered newspapers to rural routes in the Shawano and Cecil areas. Cella volunteered for a number of years with the Share Food Program and also helped with the Clintonville Food Pantry. She was always taking in people that needed help. Cella always put others before herself and considered everyone family. Cella enjoyed creating beautiful jewelry and crocheted items to sell at the Clintonville Farmer’s Market. She liked going to the casino and playing bingo. She also enjoyed dancing to 50’s and 60’s music from the band “Memories Plus”. She even traveled with the band and helped the group set up and break down for some years. Most of all, Cella loved being a homemaker, taking care of her family, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Curt; and her mother, Barb Christensen of Bear Creek. There are four children: Kelly (Josh Ader) Herrington of Clintonville, Lisa (Keith) Eulrich of Clintonville, Chris (Butch) Grant of Mattoon, and Christina Maves of Appleton. There are eight grandchildren: Tristan, Marissa, Brent, Taya, Randi, Cheyenne, Paul, and Jack. There are four siblings: Rodney (friend Rita) Beaber of Waupaca, Kat (Mark) Wilke of Clintonville, David (Jess) Beaber of Bear Creek, and Gene Christensen of Bear Creek. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cella was preceded in death by her father Harold; an infant son James Tougaw; a son Benjamin Beaber; and her stepfather Ervin Christensen.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem will officiate and inurnment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
