Diehl, Kenneth “Ken” K.

Kenneth “Ken” K. Diehl, age 78 of the Town of Mukwa, Waupaca County passed away Tuesday evening, June 29, 2021 at the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.

Kenneth Kay Diehl was born on May 20, 1943 in Neenah, WI as the son of the late Henry and Verona (Kettner) Diehl. He graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1961 and began working as a bodyman at Gibson Company in Appleton and later for Stumpf Ford in Kaukauna. Ken then ran a Chrysler dealership in New London and later worked for Piping Service and then New London Mechanical as a steamfitter/supervisor. Most recently he operated New London Auto Recyclers which he co-owned with his son Mike. He was always very honest and gracious with his customers and looked forward to their visits. On March 7, 1980, Ken was united in marriage to Susan Stern in Appleton. The couple resided in rural New London and were members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London where Ken annually participated in the “live nativity” as a wiseman. He had a great group of friends over the years and looked forward to their Thursday night card games as well as their “trout fishing” and “deer hunting” trips to Boulder Lake. Ken also enjoyed boating and waterskiing in his younger years, driving his corvette, and playing golf. He was a selfless workaholic and leaves his family with many wonderful memories.

Survivors include: his wife, Susan Diehl; children: Scott (Cindy) Shaw, Mike (Heather) Shaw, and Aimee (Rodney) Golla; grandchildren: Mike Nollenberg, Dan Nollenberg, Rae (Jonathan Brinkman) Shaw, Eva Rose Shaw, Grace Golla, and Maren Golla; his sister, Shirley Martin; niece and nephew, Brenda (Mike) Beaudoin and David (Patricia) Voss. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Charles Martin.

A memorial service will be held for Kenneth on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 110 E. Hancock Street, New London, WI 54961. Pastor Jeannie Douglas will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church on Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue until the time of the service. Memorials for Ken can be directed to Susan for peritoneal dialysis research and education.
