Young softball players make first team
Manawa’s Gast named player of the year

Underclassmen stood out this season for Central Wisconsin Conference’s softball teams.
Eleven of them – nine sophomores and two freshmen – earned first-team all-conference honors.
Iola-Scandinavia and Weyauwega-Fremont placed three players on the East Division first team, including Iola-Scandinavia’s Jaelyn Sivertson (shortstop) and Marin Hoyord (catcher). Weyauwega-Fremont first baseman Jayden McCoy also made the first team.
The East Division’s second team also includes Iola-Scandinavia’s Katie Cherek (third baseman) and Weyauwega-Fremont’s Hannah Timm (catcher).
Each team also placed one player on the honorable mention team: Iola-Scandinavia first baseman/designated player Lizzie Jones and Weyauwega-Fremont pitcher/utility player Kelsie Bleck.
Manawa, which won the CWC North Division championship, placed four players on the first team, including player of the year Alaina Gast (shortstop and third baseman), Aubrie Seeger (center fielder), Jessica Velie (catcher) and Kelsey Rosin (pitcher/shortstop).
Manawa’s Brooklyn Zielke (first baseman) and Brystal Beyer (third baseman) made the second team, while pitcher/outfielder Meg Westphal and second baseman Kennedy Rosin are on the honorable mention team.
