Snyder, Lee Robert

Lee Robert Snyder, age 79, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2021.

He was born in New London on June 5, 1942, son of Lyle Snyder and Phyllis Van Epps. He attended Lincoln Grade School and Washington High School where he played trumpet in the high school band. He also started a three-piece band in high school called The Melody Kings. So many fun Saturday nights were had dancing to the music. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Lee married his kindergarten classmate and high school sweetheart, Connie Newland in 1964. They were blessed with two loving daughters, Wendy and Jodi. Through the years, Lee was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Kimberly-Clark. He retired from Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. Fun and happiness came from attending family events, whether it was his children’s, grandchildren’s, or his nephew’s. He also loved trout fishing and tying trout flies. He was a lifetime member and past president of Trout Unlimited – Fox Valley Chapter. He loved traveling, the Packers, bowling, and watching fireworks. He designed two different homes for his family to live in and had such a good time doing that.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Connie; his daughters, Wendy (Gary) Bekx; and Jodi (Brian) St. Aubin; his grandchildren, Claire St. Aubin and Paul St. Aubin; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave and Theresa Newland, and his nephew, Joshua Newland; as well as other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his in-laws, Carl and Edna Newland; and by his grandparents.

A funeral service for Lee will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Ln, Neenah, with Rev. Richard Frost officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Lee will be laid to rest at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Westgor Funeral Homes in Neenah is serving the family.
