New London waives some student fees
District seeks to ease families’ post-pandemic burdens
The New London School voted unanimously at its June 28 meeting to waive enrollment and select activity fees for the 2021-22 school year.
The decision sought to provide some relief, and acknowledgment of increased family responsibility for education over the past year.
“Our district understands the ‘Back to School’ registration process includes a variety of expenses, and we’d like to ease that burden just a bit as a small thank you to area parents and families for the challenges the past 18 months have presented,” said District Administrator Scott Bleck.
“We’d like to encourage students and families to join co-curricular activities for the upcoming school year with a chance to explore new opportunities at no financial risk. Perhaps we can remove a barrier to trying a new co-curricular opportunity or becoming involved in any of New London’s 44 fine art, athletic or club opportunities,” Bleck added. “We believe our district is one of the first in the area to extend this offer to our entire student body.”
Student fees waived for the upcoming school year in the New London School District of include:
• Textbook and workbook use fee,
• Co-curricular/activity fee,
• Activity season pass to attend events,
• Single game/activity fee,
• Parking permit.
