Ferg, Harlan C.

Harlan C. Ferg, age 93, of Clintonville passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Aster Assisting Living, Clintonville.

Harlan Claire Ferg was born on July 3, 1928, in Milwaukee to Arnold and Emily (Emons) Ferg. As a young child his family moved to a farm in the Town of Union, Waupaca County. He graduated from Manawa High School in 1946. Harlan was united in marriage on February 22, 1947, to Grandolyn “Grandy” Schimke in Manawa and the couple dairy farmed for many years in the Town of Union. While farming, he also built equipment for close to 25 years at Farmway Company in Manawa. The couple settled in Clintonville in 1985 and she preceded him in death on March 5, 2004. Harlan was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion. He always enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was taking care of his animals on the farm, getting the rare chance to go fishing, or going deer hunting or small game hunting for rabbits and pheasants. Harlan and Grandy loved traveling to different states, and they went on several trips to other countries.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Mary) Ferg of Appleton and Robin (Sue) Ferg of Manawa. There are nine grandchildren: Carrie (Dave) Tietz, Joe (Stacie) Ferg, Nicole (Cory) Wiegert, Tara (Rich) Isaacson, Danielle (Jordan) Spiegelberg, Malia Ryan, Cody Miller, Destiny Miller, and Savannah Miller. There are nine great-grandchildren: Ryan Tietz, Natalie Tietz, Harrison Ferg, Noah Ferg, Isabelle Ferg, Ella Wiegert, Caden Isaacson, Lilli Isaacson, and Taylin Ryan. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Grandy; a sister Geraldine Bonikowske; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion, with Fr. Matthew Settle officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Symco. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting with the arrangements.
