Symco hosts Union Thresheree

54th annual event set for July 23-25

Symco is ready to roll out the red carpet for the Union Thresheree.

The Union Thresherman’s Club will hold the 54th annual event Friday to Sunday, July 23-25, at the community’s thresheree grounds at E6361 State Highway 22, Manawa.

Case tractors and equipment and Stover gas engines will be featured this year.

The schedule for each day includes:

Friday, July 23

• 7 a.m.: Gates open.

• 3 p.m.: Case tractor pull.

• 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.: Music by Driftwood.

Saturday, July 24

• 7 a.m.: Gates open.

• 8:30 a.m.: Weigh-in.

• 9:30 a.m.: Kids pedal pull.

• 11 a.m.: Antique tractor pull.

• 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Registration and sale open.

• 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.: Music by the Toys.

• 9 p.m.: Adult pedal pull.

Sunday, July 25

• 7 a.m.: Grounds open.

• 7:30 a.m.: Church service at Unionville Church.

• 11:30 a.m.: Parade.

• 1 p.m.: Garden tractor pull.

• 3 p.m.: Antique power chainsaw contest.

Most events will take place in the town of Unionville on the thresheree grounds, which features a church, school, bank, fire and police station, saloon, tractor repair shop, barbershop, post office, print shop, blacksmith shop, log cabins, general store, shoe shop, sawmill, welcome barn and water-powered feed mill.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day and displays will include antique steam engines and gas tractors; gas engines; oil pulls; a blacksmith shop; old log houses; old farm machinery exhibits; and a farm machinery museum.

Scheduled demonstrations include combining grains; running engines; threshing grain; baling; rock crushing; shelling and grinding corn; plowing; sawing logs and shingles; and silo filling.

A flea market will also be set up.

Admission is $5 per day. Children 12 and under and veterans with an ID are admitted for free.
