Waupaca County Fair set to begin

Concerts, rides, youth exhibits at the fairgrounds

It’s time once again for the Waupaca County Fair, running Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 26-29, at the fairgrounds in Weyauwega.

Entertainment features pig and duck races, a demolition derby, truck and tractor pulls, Midway rides,

Top 40 country band Bella Cain will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight, Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Frog Country Midway Stage.

Midway Stage concerts also include The Rejects from 4-8 p.m. Friday, country rock singer Derek Joseph at 7 p.m. Saturday, and Keith Anderson at 9 p.m. Saturday.

The Great Lakes Timber Show stars professional lumberjacks showing off their skills at chainsaw carving, ax throwing, two-man crosscut sawing and log rolling. Their show is scheduled several times every day of the fair.

On Friday, Aug. 27, the Waupaca County Veterans Service Office will host its annual veterans day program at the fair.

Veterans and service members plus a spouse or caregiver may come to Gate No. 1 for free admission at 11 a.m.

A speaker is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. with lunch provided by Manawa Steak House at 11:30 a.m.

Highlights of every county fair are the youth ag project exhibits.

Visitors can see beef, swine, poultry and sheep, as well as woodworking, cooking and photo projects.

Barns are open to the public 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

General admission to the Waupaca County Fair is $7 for ages 12 and older, $3 for children 6-11, children under 5 are free, $5 for seniors and veterans.

Season passes are $20 plus fees in advance for adults, $25 at start of fair, and $10 for children.
