Board approves bussing contract

Clintonville agrees to higher after-school transportation costs

By Bert Lehman

The Clintonville School Board approved a contract with Lamers for bussing services for the 2021-22 school year.

The main change in the contract was an increase in cost for after-school events.

The contract was approved at the Aug. 10 school board meeting.

“For the most part everything is staying the same except for the athletic events and the after-school activities,” District Administrator Troy Kuhn told the board during the discussion.

He said the change for those events is necessary because Lamers is losing money on those events.

“They can’t find drivers for it, so they’re paying people or they’re sending people out of Green Bay to come up and run some of our stuff. So, they asked that for those events that we up it,” Kuhn said.

The increase for those events would be from $13.15 an hour to $18 an hour.

Kuhn said he is also trying to get away from committing to a five-year contract with Lamers.

In the past, at the request of Lamers, the district has entered into five-year contracts with Lamers for bus service. Kuhn said he prefers a three-year contact that the district must approve each year.

“I think Lamers has treated the district very well, very well,” Kuhn said. “I’m just hesitant on five-year contracts. That’s just me personally.”
