Gonzales, Isadora

Isadora Gonzales, age 83 of Clintonville passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at her home.

The former Isadora Cruz was born on April 4, 1938 in Marion, Texas to Agapito and Isabel (Villanueva) Cruz. She grew up and attended school in Marion, TX. Isadora was united in marriage on July 22, 1957 to Juan Gonzales in Seguin, TX. In 1962 the couple moved to Bear Creek, Wisconsin, and settled in Clintonville in 1972. Over the years she did several different jobs, but she worked for many years at the Hortonville Toy Factory. Isadora’s greatest joy was providing in home daycare for many children in the area. Isadora is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. She created lots of beautiful knitted and crocheted items for the church. She also knitted and crocheted baptism gowns and large afghans for all the grandchildren. Her other interests included listening to all kinds of music, reading romance novels, and cooking wonderful meals for family and friends. Isadora will be remembered most as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Juan Sr.; and four children, San Juanita “Janie” (John) Smith of Clintonville, Juan (Marleen) Gonzales Jr. of Green Bay, Ernie (Kelly) Gonzales of Appleton, and Dahlia “Dolly” Gonzales of Clintonville. There are seven grandchildren: Michael (Niki) Smith, Jason (Jennifer Achterberg) Smith, Tony Gonzales, Jamie Gonzales, Ross (Alayna) Gonzales, Angela (Andy) Smith, and Nico Gonzales. There are three great-grandchildren: Charlie, Clay, and Isadora. Isadora is also survived by her AFS daughter, Maree (Danny Zita) Mirkovic of Australia and her children Erin, Johanna, Samuel; and grandson Hugo. She is further survived by four siblings, Pablo Cruz, Mary (Rudy) Juarez, Johnny (Bonnie) Cruz, and Cruz (Salvador) Licona; three sisters-in-law, Martha Cruz, Francis Torres, and Patricia Torres; and many other relatives and friends. Isadora was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Andres Cruz, Jesus Torres, and Louis Torres; and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem will officiate and burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass at the church. Our family wishes to thank all ThedaCare Hospice staff, especially Mom’s Nurse Katie, Social Worker Molly, and Chaplain Hope for the compassionate care given. We want to thank Karen from Community Care for all the support. A special thank you to all her physicians who provided Mom with excellent care throughout the years. We will be forever grateful for the tender care that our caregivers, Gloria and Rosie, gave our mother during her final years. They cared for her with such dignity and love. Finally, we truly appreciated that Fr. Tim came to the house and provided incredible spiritual support for Mom and our family.
