It didn’t take the Clintonville boys’ soccer team long to score Sept. 14 in its North Eastern Conference matchup with Waupaca.

Ethan Masiarchin’s goal 3:15 into the game gave the Truckers an early lead, but turned out to be the only goal in a 5-1 loss to the Comets at Comet Field.

Riley Wahler tied the game for Waupaca 9:08 into the game and Iversin Polebitski’s goal off of an assist from Jacob Feil gave the Comets the lead for good in the 28-minute mark.

Waupaca added three unassisted goals in the second half. Max Gusmer scored off of an assist from Bryce Boldt 15 minutes into the half, Levi Olson added a successful penalty kick in the 66-minute mark and Boldt closed out the scoring with just under 12 minutes left in the game.

Waupaca outshot the Truckers 15-4 and held the visitors to one shot on goal in the second half.

Waupaca improved to 3-0 in conference play and 5-1-1 overall, while Clintonville fell to 1-2 in North Eastern games and 3-3 overall.

Both teams have home conference games scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21. Waupaca will host Freedom at 6:30 p.m., while Clintonville will face Wrightstown at 4:30 p.m.
