Montgomery, Diana K.

Hi, I’m Diana K. Montgomery. I was born on April 26, 1940, in Maxwell, Iowa to Keith “Ike” Myers and Zenda Meyers. I passed away on September 13, 2021.

My parents divorced when my brother Martin and I were young. I split my time between my dad in Maxwell, IA on the farm and my mother in Des Moines, IA. I had an interesting childhood. My mom was a hairdresser with her own shop. Bernice Crooks, her friend, became a lifelong friend of mine. They took turns spoiling me just like my dad did. I became a mother to Cary at 16. Later I married James Blazevich and had three more children: Kellie, Andy, and James. Jim and I divorced about 15 years later. I lived in Tuscon and Denver for a while and then moved to South Dakota in 1976. While tending bar in Spearfish, South Dakota I met the love of my life, Jack Montgomery. We moved to Gillette, WY and married on March 12, 1979. We then moved to Minneapolis, MN that same year for Jack’s work. I found our dream home outside of Weyauwega near Guth’s Landing. Jack worked around the U.S. on construction, and I tended bar, most notably at Charlie Brown’s in Fremont. Then I used my flair for decorating and fashion to open Diana’s Unusual and Unique Boutique in Waupaca. We held fashion shows at the Bridge Bar in Fremont and the Beachclub in King. I had such a good time with friends who modeled and became lifelong pals. One thing about me is that I always had a good time (some cringe-worthy) but you always knew where you stood with me. I was born without a filter. So I said it like I felt it was and more! I’ve had a great life, traveled a lot, loved everything about it, and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends. So many friends, Bernice, Phyllis, Darcy, Paul and Kathy, Dave and Janet, Ron and Diane, Glen, Mike and Kaleb, Zack, Deanne, Barb, and Marv, Caveman, Valerie, Shawn, Barb, Johnny, Debbie, Greg, and Coco.
I had 4 kids, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

I am survived by my husband Jack, mother-in-law Ruth Montgomery, sister-in-law Barb (John) Butkus, and Johnny Lori Sheryl Tracy. My children: Cary C. Turner, Sarah, and Zachariah, Kellie C. Jones, Jami and Wyatt, Andy (Debbie) Blazevich, Savannah, James (Tamara) Blazevich, and Andy. I was preceded in death by my dad Ike Meyers, mother Zenda Abukishk, brother and sister-in-law Martin and Annabelle Myers, brother-in-law Huey Montgomery, father-in-law Dick Montgomery, and great-grandson Zach.

I deeply want to thank ThedaCare at Home and everyone from ThedaCare Hospice. I had the best care in my final days. What Angels!! Whew!! I’m done see ya later!

In accordance with Diana’s wishes there will be no funeral ceremony. Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London is serving the family.
