Haunted Mill to open this weekend

Halloween event returns to Iola

By Holly Neumann

After taking a year off due to COVID-19, the Haunted Mill is back in Iola.

“We are so excited to bring this event back after taking a year off,” Iola-Scandinavia High School class adviser Angela Keegan said. “The kids have been working hard and can’t wait to put this thrilling event on for our community.”

The Haunted Mill, located at 300 N. Main St., will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 23, Oct. 28, Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 and from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 31.

A behind-the-scenes, lights-on version will also be held Oct. 31 during trick or treat hours, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
“The students come up with unique ideas to bring a good scare to Iola,” Keegan said. “The historical location of the Iola Mills is the perfect place as well.”

Admission is $8 for ages 13 and older and $5 for 12 and younger. All patrons that bring a food pantry item will receive $1 off of admission.

Funds raised will be used for the I-S High School junior prom.
