William “Bill” Richard Cartwright, age 78, of New London; loving husband, father, and grandfather passed on to his eternal home on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
He was born December 14, 1942 to the late Richard and Lillian (Guenther) Cartwright. Bill was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London. Following graduation from New London High School in 1961, he served five years in the US Air Force. On September 14, 1968, he married the love of his life Karen Jean Herminath. Bill and Karen enjoyed a very full and blessed 53 years together. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed riding his Harley, snowmobiling and four-wheeling; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, dart leaque and trap shooting. He retired from PH Glatfelter, where he worked for more than 35 years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen; children: Bryan Cartwright, Jodi Piotter (fiancé, Michael Tuchscherer), Craig (Julie) Cartwright and Lisa (Dave) Millard; grandchildren: Brady and Jake Cartwright, Jesse and David Piotter, Coltyn, Kaylie, Keagan and Jaidyn Cartwright, Megan and Zach Millard, Cady (Travis) Miller, Hunter, Zeke and Chase Tuchscherer; great-grandchildren, Landen, Jackson and Oliver and his sister, Linda (William) Johnson. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral for Bill will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Pastor Mark Tiefel. Visitation will take place at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.
