Woman reports domestic abuse incident
Steven G. Whitaker Jr., 33, Sturgeon Bay, is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic abuse.
He also faces misdemeanor charges of theft, bail jumping, operating after revocation and failure to install an ignition interlock device in his vehicle.
On Oct. 8, Waupaca County Deputy Bryan Strobusch met with a Fremont woman who accused Whitaker of injuring her.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman said she had allowed Whitaker to come to her home after his shift at Pierce Manufacturing.
She told the deputy that when she told Whitaker she did not have any beer in the house, he became angry and began screaming and calling her names.
Whitaker allegedly took money from her purse and walked out to and entered his vehicle. She followed him and asked him to return her money.
The woman said she was talking with Whitaker through the open driver’s side window when he grabbed her arm, twisted it and rolled up the window.
The complaint says Whitaker abruptly accelerated while her hand was trapped in the window, dragging her along with the vehicle.
When the vehicle stopped, she was thrown to the ground and Whitaker drove away, the complaint says.
Strobusch located Whitaker in his vehicle in Waupaca. He pulled Whitaker over on Washington Street, north of Lake Street.
Although he was under a Door County court order, Whitaker did not have an ignition interlock device installed on his vehicle. He also did not have a driver’s license, the complaint says.
Whitaker was released from custody after posting a $2,000 cash bond.
At the time Strobusch arrested him, Whitaker was on a $1,000 signature bond for Waupaca County charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property as acts of domestic abuse.
On Monday, Oct. 25, Outagamie County charged  Whitaker with felony bail jumping, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.
