By Greg Seubert

Appleton North’s volleyball team wrapped up its regular season by sweeping Hortonville.

The rematch had the same result.

The Polar Bears dropped three games to the Lightning Oct. 28 in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal in Pulaski.

Appleton North opened the match with a 25-20 win before completing the sweep with 25-12 and 25-17 wins.

The top-seeded Lightning then went on to defeat Kimberly 3-0 Oct. 30 in a sectional final in Kaukauna to advance to state.

The state tournament is scheduled for Thursday to Saturday, Nov. 4-6, at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
