Koplien, Patricia Elizabeth (Lovejoy)

Patricia Elizabeth (Lovejoy) Koplien, age 84, was released from her earthly body; her spirit ascended into Heaven to be with God on November 11, 2021.

She was born to LaVerne and Bertha Lovejoy on June 13, 1937 in Fremont, Wisconsin. Patricia married her devoted husband, Duane Koplien on September 12, 1959. She always asked him to kiss her goodnight, not able to sleep well without. Together they had three children, Sally, Terry, and Lewis. They spent 31 years owning and operating Brasch’s House of Cheese, specialty store, bakery, restaurant, and farm market in Fremont, and Patricia lent several of her special touches to the business. She was especially sought after for her cooking and baking talents, her noodle salad and chocolate oysters among some of the many family favorites. Previously, they lived in Milwaukee for 12 years owning and operating Brasch’s Sunrise Eggs. Patricia enjoyed bowling (sponsoring a team), playing cards, puzzle-making, casino trips (with special friends, Nancy Danke and Mary Kasper), watching soap operas and game shows, as well as having a good meal (Chinese and Supper Club fare her favorites), but she most especially enjoyed any time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There is not anything that Patricia would not have done for her family; she worried for them often and spoiled them much, she loved them so.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Koplien; children, Sally (John) Hartfiel, Terry (Paul) Fischer, and Lewis Koplien; grandchildren: Joseph (Amanda) Fischer, Robert Hartfiel, Nicholas (Samantha Trammell) Fischer, Angela Fischer (significant other Brad Kuechler) and Natalie (Chadwick) Hartfiel-Jackson; great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Evelyn, and Meredith Fischer, Kristen, Khloe, and Carter Kuechler; sister, Charidy Ann Schmidt; brother, Robert Lovejoy; a sister-in-law, Barb (Dave) Radtke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Bertha Lovejoy, infant brother Lark Lovejoy, father-in-law Lewis Koplien, mother-in-law Belva Bucholtz, infant grandson Samuel Hartfiel, and brother-in-law Duane Schmidt.

The family of Patricia would like to extend their gratitude to Doctor Jenssen and nurse Sydney at ThedaCare – Appleton for their compassionate and skilled care which allowed her to transition peacefully without pain, and also for the support provided to all of us as we mourn her loss. Per Patricia’s wishes, private family services will be held. The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont assisted the family with arrangements.
