Wrightstown up next on Comets’ schedule

Amherst spoiled the Waupaca wrestling team’s home opener Dec. 21 by handing the Comets a 36-24 defeat.

All eight of the meet’s contested matches ended with a pin.

Waupaca’s pins came late in the match on Riley Scherg’s pin of Ryan Warzynski in 5:14 at 106 pounds and JJ Azuara’s pin of Lia Peterson in 5:32 at 113.

Ben Habighorst had opened the meet for Waupaca by pinning Caleb Pinkalla in 37 seconds at 145.

Amherst’s pins came from Ephraim Anglemyer over Owen Hansen in 1:40 (160), Jack Bohm over Cooper Pate in 1:38 (170), Colton Jakubek over Tyler Smith in 1:33 (195), Hunter Biadasz over Alex Romero-Morgado in 47 seconds (220) and Owen Nelson over Gavin Warren in 1:35 (285).

Waupaca’s other six points came on a forfeit to Tristan Cuff at 120.

The Comets also forfeited the 152-pound match to Cayden Wright.

Waupaca is scheduled to host Wrightstown at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, for a North Eastern Conference dual meet.
