Waupaca Community Chorus begins rehearsals Jan. 4

The Waupaca Community Chorus will begin rehearsals Tuesday, Jan. 4, in the Waupaca High School choir room. Scores will be on sale from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the school’s commons/lobby hallway with a rehearsal from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Tuesday rehearsals will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The choir is nonauditioned choir and ranges in membership from 90 to 130 singers. Previous experience is not required and interested singers just need to show up.

The choir is sponsored by the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival and has been on hiatus for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The year 2022 is the 57th anniversary of performing major choral works in Waupaca. The concert weekend will be Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3.

The concert is being promoted as a choral reunion concert, “A Celebration of Song.” The repertoire for the performance will be selected from past concerts of the Waupaca Community Choir.

A complete list of literature for performance is available on the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival website, www.fineartsfestival.org, and also on the Waupaca Community Choir Facebook page.

Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic, masking is strongly encouraged, but remains optional. Should the pandemic change course, mitigation strategies may pivot accordingly.

Mitigation strategies for audience members who would like to attend the concert have not yet been finalized.

The cost of music and participation is $55.75. Singers are welcome to use their own personal scores from previous performances.

The choir library does have complimentary copies available of most selections if singers are financially challenged. These copies will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. If singers choose to use their own score or borrow music from the choir library, a $5 contribution is requested for membership dues.

Singers wishing to contact choir director Dan Wolfgram can locate this information at the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival webpage under the choir section.
