It is an end of an era for the Lindsay House Bed and Breakfast in Manawa, which has been sold to a private party.

Built in 1892, the home with Victorian charm has operated as a bed and breakfast since 1989.

Tim and Judy Trull bought the Lindsay House in 2004.

“It had been a dream of mine,” Judy Trull said. “The great thing about it, Tim wanted to help fulfill that dream.”

The couple was often told the Lindsay House was homey, comfortable and well-known for its gourmet breakfasts and hospitality.

The bed and breakfast industry has undergone many changes since the Trulls first purchased the home.

“Online travel agents, Airbnb, VRBOs and social media all have a hand in the benefits and challenges that many independent bed and breakfast owners face on a day-to-day basis,” Trull said.

As the old saying goes, the more things change the more they stay the same.

Dream of being an innkeeper

“Now more than ever in the bed and breakfast industry, guests are looking to stay safe, a local concierge, unwavering service and attention to detail,” Trull said. “It is that level of service and professionalism that drew me to the dream of being an innkeeper.”

Trull admitted that they are going to miss all the wonderful people that they have met over the years.

“We enjoyed entertaining friends, family and guests and being able to call it our home,” she said. “Owning a business has given us a unique opportunity to become quite involved in the community.”

The Trulls thanked everyone for the kindness and support they were shown over the years.

“It has been such a privilege to own a business in Manawa,” Trull said. “If in some small way we have made a difference, then we celebrate that.”

Trull plans on continuing to work at The Busy Bean and serving on the Manawa Revitalization Committee.

Her hope for the new owners is that they and their family find joy in their moments of life that are spent there.
