Splash pad project gets boost

Farmers State Bank donates $50,000 to Waupaca project

Waupaca kids are a little closer to having more fun in the sun this summer thanks to a $50,000 donation for the splash pad project.

Farmers State Bank gave the donation to the city right before Christmas.

“The city could not do projects like this without great community support,” said Andrew Whitman, Waupaca Parks and Recreation director. “Farmers State Bank’s donation puts the city and Friends of Waupaca Parks group that much closer to breaking ground which will hopefully start in mid to late summer.”

The cost of the new playground and splash pad will be $1.4 million. The city of Waupaca has committed $700,000 to the project and the project has also received a tentative Land and Water Conversation Fund grant for $334,464.

Most of the remaining funds have been raised through community donations.
