Marion held Olivia Witkowski to two points in the second half of their Central Wisconsin Conference girls’ basketball matchup.
It didn’t matter, however, as the Weyauwega-Fremont freshman scored 19 of her game-high 21 points in the first half Jan. 20 and the Warhawks went on to post a 54-12 win over the Mustangs.
The Warhawks scored the game’s first 21 points and Marion didn’t cut into the lead until Dacotah Yonker’s three-pointer midway through the first half put the Mustangs on the scoreboard for the first time.
Weyauwega-Fremont led 30-8 at halftime and held the Mustangs to four points in the second half.
Witkowski was the only player to score in double figures. Brynn Kicherer had eight points for the Warhawks, while Aran Pla-Sarquella led Marion with five.
The Warhawks resumed their CWC-East schedule Jan. 25 at Amherst and will head to Shiocton Friday, Jan. 28, for a 7:15 p.m. matchup with the Chiefs.
