Two charged with armed robbery

Victims say men broke into their home looking for Bitcoin

Devon J. Sack, 20, Marinette, and Kobi J. Langenhuizen, 24, Hortonville, are charged with two counts each of armed robbery and felony intimidation of a victim as party to a crime.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a robbery in progress.

According to the criminal complaint, Sack and Langenhuizen made forced entry into a home on State Highway 54 in the town of Mukwa.

Langenhuizen allegedly accused one of the residents of stealing cryptocurrency from him.

The victim said he had invested $2,000 in Bitcoin for Langenhuizen about a year ago and made a cryptocurrency wallet for him.

He denied taking any cryptocurrency from Langenhuizen.

A housemate said he heard yelling and when he came into the room to investigate, he saw Sack wearing a tactical vest and threatening the victim with a handgun.

The housemate said Langenhuizen and Sack ordered the victim to drop to his knees and beg for his life.

The housemate said Sack pointed the gun at him and demanded his cellphone.

After he relinquished the cellphone, the housemate fled the house and went across the street to call 911.

Langenhuizen told investigators that he had gone to Sack’s home in Michigan for help to access the Bitcoin wallet. The cryptocurrency was missing.

Sack and Langenhuizen then allegedly went to the victim’s home to confront him.

Langenhuizen remains in custody on a $100,000 cash bond.

Sack was released from custody after posting a $150,000 cash bond.
