Moen, Layner M.

Layner M. Moen, age 88 of Waupaca passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI in the early morning hours.

He had been at Weston Hospital for dialysis for kidney failure. This had not helped him and he was transferred to the House of the Dove in their hospice facility to keep him comfortable. He was born on November 3, 1933 in Iola, WI, son of Rudolf and Fern (Egeland) Moen. On May 10, 1952, he married Reva Replogle in Waupaca. Layner joined the US Air Force in 1953 and then was sent to Korea, New Mexico, Antigo, WI, Finley, ND, Germany and Fairbanks, Alaska serving 22 years before his honorable retirement in 1992. After his retirement, he ran the King-Waupaca bus line for quite a while, then got a job driving bus for the City of Oshkosh, WI for 15 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending his winter months in Arizona and living in and remodeling an old farmhouse at the Chain O’Lakes by the Busy Bee.

Layner is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Reva Moen of Waupaca; four sons: Jonas (Brenda) Moen of Temple, TX; Dana (Nadine) Moen of Chula Vista, CA; Adam Moen of Temple, TX and Eric (Ann) Moen of Lodi, WI; 14 grandchildren: Michael, Jaime, Joshua, Jonas II, Jennifer, John, Jenna, Daniel, Anthony, Breanne, Zachary, Janay and Alec; 16 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Aiden, Logan, Rayah, Rachel, Cecelia, Gabriel, Freedom, Jonas, Reid, Aliki, Heaven, Troy, Eros, Jackson and Sophia. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Junior and two sisters, Audrey and Shirley.

As per Layner’s wishes, there will no services and burial of his cremains will be in Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
