Gary C. Griswold, age 72, of Waupaca, passed away at home on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
He was born on September 3, 1949 to Russell and Gertrude (Albert) Griswold. Gary worked as an intake operator for Galloway Company in Neenah, retiring after 35+ years of service. He meticulously cared for his lawn and property and enjoyed all of the wildlife that visited. He liked to drive his little tractor “Old Blue” and loved giving bucket rides to his grandchildren. Gary was often found on his front porch listening to music, having a few beers and sometimes having deep philosophical conversations with Jennie.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jackie Marta-Griswold; daughters: Dawn Romportl (and friend Rob) of Menasha, Tracey (Charlie) Plumleigh of TX and Jennie Miller of Menasha; bonus daughter, Kerri (Kevin) Nicks of FL and daughter-in-law, Lisa Portmann of Neenah; grandchildren: Richard and Justin Romportl, Sydnie (Cody) Jacob, Sam and Maddie Miller; and siblings: Judy Fowler of Neenah, Marcia (Jim) Reinhardt of Neenah, Russell Griswold of Milwaukee and Lenora (Jim) Cherney of MI. Gary is further survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and his two cats, Otis and Gizmo. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeremy Portmann; sisters, Eileen Boe and Amy Nicholas and cats: Sassy, Danny, Munchie and Trouble.
A time to share memories of Gary will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca, with a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Waupaca Humane Society.
