Fritz, Willa A.

Willa A. Fritz, age 62 of Clintonville passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Peabody Manor, Appleton.

The former Willa Alene Long was born on July 16, 1959 in Cowpens, South Carolina, to Reuben and Sarah (Sam) Long. As a young girl her family moved to Florida where she resided for many years. She also lived in Georgia for a while and then moved to Wisconsin. Willa was united in marriage on April 13, 1996 to Michael W. Fritz at Zion Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, and the couple settled in Clintonville in 2000.

Willa was a member of Calvary Apostolic Church, Clintonville, where she joined in bible study groups and participated in other church activities. She had a strong faith and often shared it with others. Her interests included wood burning art projects, drawing with colored pencils, working in her flower garden, and decorating her lawn or home for every season. Willa was a great cook but liked to go out to eat whenever possible. In her early days, she enjoyed bowling and horseback riding. She will be remembered most as a loving and caring person who always wanted to help others. Willa was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Michael; and four children: Shaun (friend Janet Aversa) Blackney of Knoxville, TN; Steven Long Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; William Fritz of Clintonville, and Gary (fiancée Bridgett Mathis) Eder of Clintonville. There are two grandchildren, Zaharia Enrieta Jay Baier and Victoria Eder-Cunningham, and one great-granddaughter, Raeleigh-Grace Gangloff. There is one sister, Laura Long of Tennessee and one brother, Junior Long of Zolfo Springs, FL. She is further survived by four in-laws: Willa (Mark) Bacon of Waupaca, Linda Walters of Neshkoro, Ida (Mark) Schroeder of Iron Mountain, MI, and Mary Fritz of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Willa was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ollie Jernigan; William’s fiancée, Sara Ross; three grandchildren, Annabelle Marie Blackney, Wynter Eclipse Fritz, and Heavenlee Rebel Fritz; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Herbst.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Apostolic Church, Clintonville, with Rev. Patrick Kloehn officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting with the arrangements.
