Mehlberg, Carl A. H.

Carl A. H. Mehlberg, age 95 of the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, passed away Monday morning, February 21, 2022 at Shawano Health Services.

Carl was born May 24, 1926 in the Town of Dupont as the son of Henry and Cynthia (Robbins) Mehlberg. He attended Pioneer Grade School and graduated from Marion High School in 1943. On May 24, 1950 Carl married the love of his life, Margaret E. Detert; a marriage that spanned 65 years. Carl worked for Carrie Churchill as farm labor until he was able to purchase his own farm in 1954. He also drove milk truck for Stoney Ridge Cheese Factory a few times over the years along with farming. After his years of farming, Carl and Margaret delivered Appleton Post Crescent and Shoppers Guide papers, and after that delivered cheese for Dupont Cheese. As members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Symco, Carl served on church council numerous times. He had a huge hand in helping raise his grandson Robert Schoneck, creating a special bond between the two.

Survivors include: his daughter, Margaret Ann Schoneck, Marion; grandson, Robert (Kelsie) Schoneck, Marion; sister, Hazel (Jerry) Plauster, Marion; brothers, Andrew and David Mehlberg, Big Falls; sister-in-law, Geri Detert, Marion; also numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret in 2015, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Margaret (Pruess) Detert, his son-in-law Terry Schoneck, sisters, Rosemary Huebner and Flossie Much, brothers, Lawrence and James Mehlberg, brothers-in-law, Lawrence Detert and LeRoy Huebner, and nephews, Ricky and Roger Huebner.

Carl’s funeral service will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Interment will follow at the Roseland Cemetery in the Town of Dupont. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
