Teachers journey around the world

Winchester Academy hosts program on international schools

Colin and Jenny Mitchell will present “A Journey Around the World through the Eyes of International Schools: A First-Hand Account” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 7.

Winchester Academy is hosting the program.

Colin Mitchell, a native of New Jersey, and Jenny Mitchell, from the Green Bay area, met in Tunisia nine years ago.

Jenny taught on five different continents in a variety of schools. Colin, a former head of international business development, joined Jenny on her journey with stops in Europe and Africa.

Together they have visited more than 70 countries in 15 years abroad.

They discuss differences in international schools as they hop from one unique cultural experience to the next. They have been posted in Colombia, traveled around Southeast Asia via Singapore, lived on the Rhine in Germany and the Nile in Sudan.

Each school provides a unique perspective on the world and the globalization of education.

Jenny has a master’s degree in teaching from Aurora University and is currently pursuing an doctorate in educational sustainability from UW-Stevens Point.

Colin teaches the globalization of education for Moreland University and digital marketing at Rochester Institute of Technology’s satellite campus in Zagreb, Croatia. He has an MBA from Pace University and a doctorate from Walden University in public health.

This virtual program will be live-streamed via Facebook Live, YouTube and WIN-TV, and can be heard on WILW 96.3 FM. The hybrid format also provides for limited seating in the Waupaca City Council Chamber at City Hall, with masking required for unvaccinated persons.
