It didn’t take the Manawa boys’ basketball team long to have a nail-biter in the WIAA state tournament.

The Wolves outscored Mishicot 16-8 in overtime March 1 and handed the Indians a 66-58 loss in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal at Little Wolf High School.

The fifth-seeded Wolves will now face fourth-seeded Bonduel at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, on the Bears’ home court, with the winner advancing to a regional final at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at a location to be determined.

Manawa had an early lead in the game, but the Indians came back to take a 23-22 lead at the break.

The Wolves outscored Mishicot 28-27 in the second half and the teams headed into overtime tied at 50-50.

Tanner Nienhaus had the hot hand for the Wolves and scored eight of his game-high 22 points in overtime.

Conner Scheid added 16 points for the Wolves, while Parker Reif and Maxwell Seib led Mishicot with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
