BMO Harris to close office

New banks consider Weyauwega

By James Card

The Weyauwega branch of BMO Harris will close its doors at noon Saturday, April 30.

Account holders will still be able to do banking transactions through BMO Harris at other locations and online – just not in the city of Weyauwega.

The BMO bank building is listed for sale.

The Clintonville  BMO Harris branch is also closing.

The city of Weyauwega has its accounts at the BMO Harris bank and is committed to do its banking at a financial institution that is physically present in Weyauwega.

“We have heard of two banks that are looking but we have not heard anything at this point.

We’re patiently waiting as well because we don’t want to have to move things several times if something were to come through. We hope we hear something soon,” said City Administrator Jeremy Schroeder.

One bank that has expressed interest is Community First Credit Union, which is headquartered in Appleton and has numerous branches throughout central and eastern Wisconsin, Schroeder said.

CORRECTION: This article initially reported that BMO Harris planned to close its Seymour branch. That information was incorrect.
