Frederick, Kathryn E. (Gorman)

Kathryn “Kate” E. Frederick, age 89 of New London, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

She was born on September 18, 1932 in Manawa, daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn (Dempsey) Gorman. On Sept 11, 1954, Kathryn was united in marriage to Howard Frederick in the Town of Lebanon. He preceded her in death in 2003. After many years of farming, they sold the cows and retired from farming in 1987. Kate then worked for several years at Markman’s Department Store, finding a new career she loved, meeting and helping so many people. After Markman’s closed, Kate worked part-time for Lund Cooley @ Edward Jones-where she again had the opportunity to meet and visit with many people. Kate was a long-time member of Most Precious Blood Parish where she was a communion distributor to St. Joseph Residence and the New London Hospital. Kate was known by many as “Grandma Kate” a name she earned by her grandkids and their friends that they played sports with. She was an avid fan of all the sports teams her kids and grandkids played for and spent many-many hours sitting on bleachers in all kinds of weather to cheer on and support them all. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and loved all the phone calls and visits throughout the years. Kate also enjoyed playing Bridge with her special friends and had a love for the Brewers, Bucks, Badgers, Packers and all college games.

Kate is survived by her sons, Tom (Ellen), Mike (Katie), Jim (Colleen); daughter Jean (Clint) Skewes; daughter-in-law Janet; grandchildren: Mark (Jen), Bill (Jenna) Sara, Brian (Nicole), Annie (Trevor), Abby, Emily, Max, Reece, and Shay; great-grandchildren: Hazel, Leif, Kathryn, Clara, Norah, Daniel, Zach, Toby and Ellie; brother and sister-in-law Edward (Jean) Gorman; sister Pat Leary. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard; daughter and son-in-law Debbie (Dan) Nolan; son Steve; grandson Wesley Skewes; sister and brother-in-law Mary Jane (Bill) Sullivan; sister-in-law Else (Victor) Baldwin and brother-in-law Roger Leary.
