Home destroyed near Iola
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a 911 call reporting a residential fire shortly before 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 27.
The caller said the house was fully engulfed in flames.
When Iola firefighters and Waupaca County deputies arrived at N11557 County Trunk P, town of Harrison, they saw that the structure had collapsed from the fire.
The sheriff’s office received information that someone may have been inside the house at the time of the fire, according to a press release.
Deputy state fire marshals arrived at the scene and located a body.
The sheriff’s office is waiting for identification of the deceased person.
In addition to Iola, fire departments from Manawa, Scandinavia, Rosholt, Marion, Clintonville and Amherst responded.
Also assisting were the Northwest First Responders, Iola Ambulance and Faulks Bros. Construction.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
