Suspect found inside missing truck, police say

Man charged with receiving stolen property

Joshua N. Pennebecker, 33, Manawa, is charged with receiving stolen property.

On Sept. 29, 2021, a Marion man came into the Clintonville police station and reported a stolen vehicle.

The man told Officer Dustin King that he had loaned his pickup truck to his brother, who drove it to work at the Clintonville Fleet Farm. Someone stole the truck from the parking lot.

Clintonville dispatch entered the truck’s description and VIN into a data base that informs law enforcement agencies about stolen vehicles.

A picture of the stolen truck was also posted on the Clintonville Police Department’s Facebook page.

Later that same day, the victim’s brother contacted the police and reported that the truck was parked on Durrell Street in Bear Creek.

Officer Craig Kamke drove to Bear Creek and located the truck.

According to the criminal complaint, Pennebecker was inside the truck and preparing to leave.

Pennebecker reportedly told Kamke that he met with an individual on State Highway 22 south of Clintonville and bought the truck for $1,000 earlier that day.

The individual has not been charged in this incident.

Kamke reported that Pennebecker had a title to the vehicle, but it was not in his name and had not been signed by the seller.

Pennebecker told Kamke, “I’m not going to lie. In the back of my head I knew it was stolen,” the complaint says.

On Oct. 5, 2021, Outagamie County charged Pennebecker with taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He was released from custody after posting a $1,000 cash bond.

Waupaca County released Pennebecker from custody on a $2,000 signature bond.
