Cops and Bobbers set for June 3

Clintonville police host youth fishing event

Registration is now open for the first Cops and Bobbers event to be held by the Clintonville Police Department Friday, June 3.

The event is open for those ages 8-17.

“We use fishing as a tool to connect police officers and the youth in our community,” said a press release. “Officers work side by side with kids, helping them bait, cast, hook and release fish all while bonding and learning that they are not so different from each other after all.”

The Cops and Bobbers event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ice house landing at the corner of 12th and Hemlock streets. Fishing equipment will be provided for use, and a lunch will be provided.

“Fishing teaches patience, ingenuity, preparation and humility. It is an activity most anyone can do and afford. In the Cops and Bobbers program, cops and kids work and fish together which makes every day a good day,” according to the release.

Spots for the event are limited. Registration and permission/liability release forms must be completed by May 27.

To register, email Officer Joe LeBreck at [email protected] or pick up the forms at the Clintonville Police Department.
