Track athletes compete at state

Several return home with medals

Here’s how local participants fared at the WIAA State Track & Field Championships, held June 3-4 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse:

Division 3 Boys

• 100-meter dash: Quinn Dittmann, Weyauwega-Fremont, third.
• 3,200-meter run: Charlie Vater, Iola-Scandinavia, fourth.
• Long jump: Parker Prahl, Iola-Scandinavia, fourth.
• Triple jump: Parker Prahl, Iola-Scandinavia, 10th.
• 400-meter relay: Weyauwega Fremont (Muluken Rucks, Hayden Orr, Quinn Dittmann, Brayden Arndt), 10th.
• 800-meter relay: Weyauwega-Fremont (Muluken Rucks, Hayden Orr, Quinn Dittmann, Brayden Arndt), third; Manawa (Justin Buschke, Grant Bristol, Conner Scheid, Tanner Nienhaus), sixth.
• 3,200-meter relay: Iola-Scandinavia (Brock Wester, Dylan Donovan, Jacob Lashua, Charlie Vater), fourth.

Division 3 Girls

• 400-meter dash: Emma Ziepke, Weyauwega-Fremont, 16th (preliminaries, did not make finals).
• 800-meter run: Emma Ziepke, Weyauwega-Fremont, 13th.
• 1,600-meter run: Abby Bartel, Weyauwega-Fremont, sixth.
• 3,200-meter run: Abby Bartel, Weyauwega-Fremont, third.
• High jump: Lexi Hedtke, Manawa, tied for fourth.
• Shot put: Olivia Santos, Manawa, 16th.
• Discus: Olivia Santos, Manawa, 16th.
• 3,200-meter relay: Weyauwega-Fremont (Emma Ziepke, Morgan Hansen, Madison Hansen, Abby Bartel), ninth; Manawa (Makenzie Jo Krueger, Amber Fietzer, Jolie Jaeger, Marilyn Klatt), 13th.

Division 2 Boys

• 1,600-meter run: Joshua Wilson, Clintonville, 12th.
• 3,200-meter run: Joshua Wilson, Clintonville, 14th.
• Triple jump: Kyle Wisniewski, New London, first (46 feet, 11 1/4 inches).
• Long jump: Kyle Wisniewski, New London, second.
• High jump: Kyle Wisniewski, New London, second.

Abby Bartel wrapped up her Weyauwega-Fremont High School track career by competing in three events at the WIAA State Track & Field Championships. Division 2 Girls

• 400-meter run: Macy Reybrock, New London, 16th (preliminaries, did not make finals).
• 100-meter hurdles: Lauren Zwirschitz, Clintonville, fifth.
• 1,600-meter relay: New London (Maddie Kloehn, Maren Stepniak, Rianna Schutz, Macy Reybrock), ninth.

Division 1 Boys

• Shot put: Ben Smith, Hortonville, first (59 feet, 4 inches).
• Discus: Ben Smith, Hortonville, first (179 feet, 3 inches).
• Pole vault: Eathan Lund, Hortonville, no height.
• 3,200-meter relay (Mason Lehmkuhl, Aidan Paschke, Blake Radish, Aiden Leist), 21st (preliminaries, did not make finals).
