Carter Jr., Dwight (Bud) Floyd

Dwight (Bud) Floyd Carter Jr., 73, of Waupaca WI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 18, 2022,

from a short battle with cancer.

Born October 30, 1948 in Sterling, IL, son of Dwight and Cecelia Jeanne (Klocke) Carter. Bud graduated from Dowling High School and attended Grandview College both located in Des Moines, IA. Bud married his high school sweetheart Mary Ann Kurtz on September 10, 1966. He followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps, working in the garage door and garage door operator business for over forty years, retiring in 2015. He was employed by local garage door operator company Moore-O-Matic for 23 years. Bud won many awards and accolades during his long sales career.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Bud cherished his time spent at his family cottage on Lake Vermilion and enjoyed taking the “Vermilion Boys” to the cottage for opening fishing trips.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years Mary Ann (Kurtz), daughters Michele (Jeff) Ernst and Melissa (Wilbur) Puls; grandchildren Lida Jeanne Ernst, Flynn (Rachel) Ernst, Miley (Geoff) Clary, Lauren (Sterling) Byers, Alexa Cecelia Puls, and Colten Puls; six great-grandchildren; sisters Candace (Joe) Saluri, Carol (Ted) Ward; brother Dwayne (Pam) Carter; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by sister Cynthia (Cindy) Ludden; brother David (Buck) Carter; in-laws Robert and Frances Kurtz and brother-in-law Kevin Kurtz.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca WI with Father Xavier Santiago presiding. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in memory of Dwight ‘Bud’ Carter to Mayo Clinic for Lewy Body Dementia research or to Bethany’s Crystal River Trail Project. Donations to Mayo can be made by mail and can be written directly to Mayo Clinic and mailed to the following address: Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905. Please indicate that the donation is in memory of Dwight ‘Bud’ Carter and to be designated to Lewy Body Dementia Research. Donations to the Crystal River Trail Project can be sent to Bethany, 1226 Berlin Street, Waupaca, WI 54981 attention Bud Carter Memorial.

The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
