Mehlberg, Elaine

Elaine L. Mehlberg nee Ebert, age 91 of the Town of Pella, Shawano County, passed away Sunday morning June 26, 2022 at Birch Hill Health Services in Shawano.

Elaine Lois Ebert was born on June 2, 1931 in the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County as the daughter of the late William and Lulu (Schoneck) Ebert. She was baptized, attended grade school, confirmed and married at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Elaine graduated from Clintonville High School and in her youth enjoyed playing softball. She went on to follow her dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from Mt. Sinai Nursing School in Milwaukee. Elaine began her career in 1952 at Clintonville Hospital and was married to her sweetheart; Elroy A. Mehlberg on June 7th of that same year. The couple farmed in the Town of Pella while raising their 6 children and retired from the farm and sold it to their son Tim in 1984. Elaine was a very talented nurse throughout her career. After working for Clintonville Hospital she transferred to Shawano Medical Center in 1981 as their PM Nursing Supervisor and retired in 1996. Elaine was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline where she volunteered often and taught Sunday School while her kids were young. She enjoyed traveling with Elroy, cooking, baking, and canning the harvest from her garden. Elaine was active in her community as well, but her main focus was always on her Lord and her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren; teaching them life’s lessons along the way.
