Independence Day festivities

Communities throughout the area will celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend with parades, barbecues, fireworks and music.

Waupaca

A 100-unit parade on Main Street at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, kicks off Waupaca’s annual Independence Day celebration.

After the parade, the Knights of Columbus offer a chicken barbecue (until gone) at South Park’s upper level. The Knights run a concession at the park’s lower level in the evening. Fireworks begin at South Park at 9:30 p.m.

Manawa

The Manawa Rodeo Parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Manawa Elementary School and ends at the Mid-Western Rodeo Grounds, 110 Second St.

New London

The Festival Foods Fireworks Celebration will be held Monday, July 4, at Cottrill Field inside Hatten Stadium. There will be concessions, children’s games and giveaways. Gate opens at 6 p.m., fireworks show to start at about 9:45 p.m. Animals are not permitted at the event.

Clintonville

The Clintonville A’s will sponsor activities at the baseball field at Olen Park, beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 3. There will be a youth game at 5:30 p.m., along with food, drink, and a DJ starting after the game. Fireworks will start at dusk.

Weyauwega

Fireworks start at dusk Sunday, July 3, over Lake Weyauwega.

Iola-Scandinavia

The Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce will host Stars and Stripes Forever at dusk on Sunday, July 3, at Taylor Field in Iola, with a rain date of Tuesday, July 5.

DJ Rick Ertl will play patriotic music before and during the fireworks and will have a musical arrangement to go along with the display.

The annual softball game between the Iola and Scandinavia fire departments is also scheduled, as well as a co-ed game between Iola-Scandinavia High School’s Class of 2022 and future classes.
