TD passes lift Chiefs over T-Birds

Iola-Scandinavia now headed to Wittenberg

Dawson Schmidt’s four touchdown passes helped Shiocton’s football team open its season Aug. 19 with a 41-6 win over Iola-Scandinavia.

The Chiefs found the end zone three times in the first half.

Shiocton opened the scoring on Schmidt’s 6-yard touchdown pass before the Thunderbirds cut the deficit to 7-6 on Parker Gullixon’s 68-yard strike to Jackson Fredy.

Schmidt had scoring passes of 33 and 28 yards later in the second quarter and the Chiefs added to their 21-6 halftime lead with a 1-yard run and 64-yard pass in the third quarter.

The T-Birds will head to Wittenberg at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, to face Wittenberg-Birnamwood before hosting Colby at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2.
